PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar has advised the graduating students of universities to focus on their strong points, make full use of their knowledge and skills, set high goals for themselves and give their best to achieve them.

He said this way they would ultimately get success in all spheres of life. Addressing the sixth convocation of Kohat University of Science and Technology on its premises on Saturday, the governor stated that, “let patriotism and nationalistic pride be the driving force behind all the efforts in achieving excellence and bringing fame to our country.”

He observed that positive nationalism played a major role in uplifting the economy of the far-eastern economic giants and national pride could hardly be overlooked in the technological advancement of the western world as well.

If graduates of any developed country, he added, can contribute towards uplift of their country, them our graduates could also do and they are doing. He added that the privileged class and the nation pinned high hopes with them.

In all, over 500 graduates got bachelors and masters degrees in 17 various disciplines while 48 were awarded gold and silver medals for achieving distinctive positions in their respective fields.

The governor also mentioned the locally available natural resources as potential means for socio-economic development of the people and said that the adjacent region has got many hidden treasures including gas and oil and international companies are bidding for their exploration rights and the KUST should also establish an institute of Geological Sciences on its main campus for manpower development. 

Earlier, KUST Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nasir Jamal Khattak presented the welcome address and highlighted the achievements of the university as well as its future plans of academic and infrastructure development. The ceremony was largely attended by vice chancellors of various universities, senior government officials, elite of the area and parents of the graduates.
