SWABI - Unidentified militants targeted the house of a member of a non-governmental organisation by a planted bomb, which exploded before dawn here on Saturday.

The militants hit the house of Rohal Amin, president Samajee Behbood Rabita Council (SBRC), which is a body of 16 Community Based Organisations (CBOs). The SBRC has been working in the district for the last three decades. It was the first NGO in the district.

“I was enjoying sound sleep when the bomb planted near our house entrance gate exploded.

I suddenly rushed to know and saw that the gate was shattered and the house and our adjacent hujr (common guest house) were damaged badly,” Amin said. The house and hujra were situated in mohallah Mazamkhel.

The bomb exploded at 5:30 am and the police reached there soon after the blast. They inspected the house and noted the entire situation. Police officials said an FIR had been registered with the city police station against unidentified militants. They added that it was the first incident of its nature in the district in which the leader of an NGO was targeted.
