Transport system to be organised on modern lines, says Shahbaz


LAHORE - Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif Saturday presided over a meeting held to review the progress so far made in the completion of Metro Bus Service and Intelligent Transport System, costing billions of rupees which are aimed at providing comfortable, quality and economical transport facilities to the masses.
The system will be replicated in other cities of the province. The CM in the meeting, noted with satisfaction that work on the project of Metro Bus Service in Lahore was going on speedily. He said that transport system is being organised on modern lines for coping with the increasing pressure of transport and solving the problems like traffic jams. He said that Intelligent Transport System is also being introduced in the province which will help operate traffic system in big cities in an organised manner and people would also reach their destination on time. He said a smooth flow of traffic would be ensured by way of controlling it through the modern computerized system. He said that this system would also help in taking timely steps for coping with any emergent situation and traffic accident. He said that the Punjab government had ensured financial transparency in the public welfare projects of billions of rupees and the additional resources saved through austerity are also being spent on the public welfare projects.
Earlier, Lahore Transport Company and Secretary Transport Chairman informed about the progress of metro bus service and intelligent transport system projects.
