ISLAMABAD - The Engineering Wing of CDA to take up construction of remaining roads and patch work of damaged roads in coordination with Planning and Estate Wings and formulate a strategy for up-gradation and rehabilitation of dwellers of Katchi Abadies in Farash Town on war footing.Chairman CDA, Syed Tahir Shahbaz while visiting Farash Town, stated. He said that Capital Development Authority (CDA) would make all out efforts for removal of encroachments from Farash Town to develop it into potential town where the residents could enjoy basic civic amenities.He directed them for carrying out consistent operation for removal of encroachments and keep strict vigilance of the areas so the encroachments could not crop up again. Chairman CDA further directed the Engineering Wing to start work on infrastructure plan including construction of roads and allied facilities in those areas of the town where plots have been allotted to the people as well as the slum dwellers so as to shift them to Farash Town.Member Planning and Design, Syed Mustafain Kazmi apprised the Chairman CDA that Farash Town has been planned under Model Urban Shelter Project (MUSP) where three-marla plots have been allotted to 1231 slum dwellers from four katchi abadis including Muslim Colony, Esa Nagri, Dhok Najju and Haq Bahu Colony, adding that plan for allotment to rest of the dwellers of said Katchi Abadi has been worked out. Syed Mustafain Kazmi also informed that developmental work is in progress in different pockets of Farash Town as plots in these pockets have been allotted. Member Estate, Shaista Sohail informed Chairman CDA that CDA could allot plots in different pockets of Farash Town to the affected residents of those sectors, which are in the process of development. The area could be utilized on basis of exceptional planning and infrastructure, she added. She informed that CDA can also provide consultancy for designing and construction of houses and other technical issues to develop the town on modern lines.
