California: Johnny Depp will reportedly appear in Kevin Smith’s Tusk. The Pirates of the Caribbean actor is expected to be among the cast of the monster movie, to be released later in 2014.
Justin Long - who leads the cast of the project - revealed in a recent interview that Depp has signed up for a small role, but this has yet to be officially confirmed by Smith. Tusk follows a journalist (Long) who meets adventurer Mr Howe (Michael Parks), who has incredible tales and a fascination of walruses.
Long told the Long Island Newsday that he is working on Kevin Smith’s film and that “Johnny Depp is in that one”. Depp is expected to play a French-Canadian inspector named Guy Lapointe, who investigates the strange case of a man trapped in a walrus.–DS
Smith had previously said that he intended a major Hollywood star to play the small but pivotal role. On September 4, he revealed on Twitter that he had secured his preferred choice, but did not divulge the actor’s name.
Haley Joel Osment and Genesis Rodriguez will also star in the film. Johnny Depp will next star in Christopher Nolan’s Transcendence, which is released on April 18 in the US and on April 25 in the UK.
