LAHORE - Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court Justice Sayed Zahid Hussain Thursday hoisted national flag atop LHC building on the occasion of Independence Day in a simple but impressive ceremony. Judges of the LHC, officers and officials of the court also attended the function. Earlier, the chief justice inspected the guard of honour and a smart contingent of the police presented salute. At the conclusion of the function, all the participants offered collective prayers for the solidarity, prosperity and strengthening of the judiciary. The chief justice, on the occasion, said it was the best way to celebrate the Independence Day by following the golden principles laid down by the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The CJ pledged on this auspicious day to discharge our duties with full devotion, honestly and painstakingly. It must be the obligation of every person associated the institution of Justice to provide easy access to justice to the litigants visiting courts and mitigate their sufferings. It will help strengthen and stabilise our motherland, the CJ maintained. Wapda House Flag-hoisting ceremony was held here at the Wapda House Thursday to mark the Independence Day of Pakistan. WAPDA member (Power) Fazal Ahmed Khan unfurled the national flag. Member (Finance) Chaudhry Abdul Qadeer, General Manager (Administration) Brig. Muhammad Najam us Saqib, general managers of the Water as well as Power Wing. Of Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) and National Transmission & Despatch Company (NTDC), chief executive officers as well as a large number of Wapda employees attended the ceremony. Following unfurling of the flag, the students of Wapda schools sang national anthem. They also enthralled the ceremony with various national songs. Two of the students delivered speeches on blessings of independence and our responsibilities. Later, member (Power) and member (Finance) presented gifts to the students, teachers and the children of deceased WAPDA employees. Ceremonies were also organized at various Wapda formations, projects and schools located outside Lahore to celebrate the Independence Day with traditional national fervor. The WAPDA buildings throughout the country, especially Wapda House Lahore, were decorated and illuminated in connection with the celebrations. Punjab University Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran has stressed upon the nation to straighten its character for strengthening their beloved Pakistan. While addressing the gathering after flag hoisting ceremony at the New Campus he said that Pakistan is a unique gift of God for the Muslim Ummah. He said that power and dominance is the ultimate result of acting upon the Islamic teachings. Other speakers, on this occasion, also elaborated the reasons why Muslims of the Sub-continent struggled for a separate homeland for themselves. They stressed on the need of creating awareness among the younger generation about the historic facts that led to the creation of Pakistan. Speakers were Dr Syed Akram Shah, Dr Mazhar Moeen, Dr Khawja Amjad Saeed and Dr Tahseen Faroqui. Hailey College The flag hoisting ceremony on the 61st Independence Day of the country was held here at Hailey College of Banking and Finance Punjab University on Thursday. College Principal Prof Dr Khawaja Amjad Saeed hoisted the national flag and prayed to Allah Almighty for progress and prosperity of the country. Veterinary University The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore arranged a flag-hoisting ceremony at its main campus to mark the 61st Independence Day here on Thursday. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Nawaz hoisted the national flag while the university staff and the students attended the ceremony in large number. Addressing the ceremony, the vice-chancellor urged the university staff and students to follow the principles of unity, faith and discipline given by Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. He also urged the students to work hard with honesty and dedication for the progress and prosperity of the country. Railway HQs General Manager Operations Nasir Ahmed Zaidi unfurled national flag at Railways Headquarters to commemorate the Independence Day here on Thursday. Inspector General of Railways Police Mirza Mohammad Ali, senior officials and employees of Pakistan Railways were also present on this occasion. Later sweets were distributed among the ceremony participants.
