ISLAMABAD - Bakhat Farzandi, a commander of the banned Tehrike Taliban-e-Pakistan (TTP), was arrested by intelligence agencies in Islamabad early Sunday. Sources told The Nation that communications of the militant leader were tracked Saturday evening and the agencies in a precision operation arrested him from Sector G-9 of the capital. Sources further said that the timely arrest of the militant commander averted the capital from a major terrorist act on the Independence Day. Bakhat, who had a Rs3 million bounty on his head, was shifted to some unknown location for interrogation. He worked for TTP faction of Qari Ziaur Rehman. The group is reportedly based in Bajour Agency.
