SIALKOT - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf has started a political campaign against Sialkot based PML-N Leader Khawaja Muhammad Asif in his constituency (NA-110) for getting the name of Sialkot Medical College changed as Khawaja Safdar Medical College. The PTI has also demanded immediate changing of Kh Safdar Medical College Sialkot to its old name as Sialkot Medical College. PTI Punjab leader Umer Farooq Dar disclosed this while addressing a largely attended press conference at Jinnah House Sialkot.

He said that the PTI would continue its struggle till the revival of old name of the medical college, adding that the people of Sialkot wanted to have the official name of this medical college as Sialkot Medical College instead of Kh. Safdar Medical College.

Umer Farooq Dar narrated that the provincial government changed the name just to please the Sialkot based PML-N leader. This college was attributed to the name of late Khawaja Muhammad Safdar, the father of Khawaja Muhammad Asif. The changing of the name opened the doors of criticism from all sides against the Punjab government and Khawaja Asif.

However, the Punjab government remained determined and stuck to its stance. He said that the step has also forced the PTI to launch the campaign, asking the Punjab government to revive the old name of this medical college.
