Religio-political parties activities

LAHORE - Various political and religious parties held flag hoisting ceremonies at their party offices and other functions to celebrate 67th Independence Day of the country on Wednesday.
Jamaat-i-Islami (JI), Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) and All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) held flag hoisting and other functions in connection with the Independence Day.
JI chief, Syed Munawar Hasan led the flag hoisting ceremony at party headquarters in Mansoora, which was attended by number of party leaders including secretary general, Liaqat Baloch and naib ameer JI, Siraj-ul-Haq.
Syed Munawar Hasan addressing the party leaders and workers on this occasion pledged to continue struggle for realizing the goals before the establishment of this Muslim homeland.
He urged the government to devise a policy to deal with terrorism and place the same before an APC to secure consensus.
JI chief also announced holding a protest demonstration on August 16 (Friday) against the unprovoked bombardment of the Indian forces on Pakistani frontiers and Egyptian army’s ruthless operation against the loyalists of deposed Egyptian president Muhammad Mursi.  He remarked that the rulers anxiety to have good relations with the enemy led to the promotion of alien cultures in the country. 
Meanwhile, PTI leaders and workers visited Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s tomb and offered special prayers besides laying floral wreath. 
PTI Punjab chapter leadership also held a flag hoisting ceremony at party’s provincial secretariat, while women wing of the party held a cake cutting ceremony to celebrate 67th Independence Day.
