NEW DELHI - Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted people of Pakistan on their Independence Day.
“On the occasion of their Independence Day, I convey my greetings to the people of Pakistan,” he posted.
At the Wagah border crossing, Pakistan army personnel gifted their Indian counterparts sweets . India’s Border Security Force personnel also exchanged sweets and offered their good wishes to personnel of the Pakistan Rangers .
On the other hand, the Pakistan High Commission observed the Independence Day in New Delhi. Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India, Abdul Basit, addressed the gathering after hoisting country’s flag in the high commission premises.
In his address, High Commissioner Basit said, “Pakistan is committed to having normal relations with India on the basis of mutual respect. And, we are confident that in the times ahead, both Pakistan and India would be able to resolve their problems and issues and have peaceful relations. “I would also like to extend moral and diplomatic support to people of Held Jammu and Kashmir in their legitimate struggle, which is enshrined in UN charter and universal declaration of human rights,” he added.
