US reaffirms support for Pak-India dialogue

WASHINGTON - The United States has brushed aside Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proxy war allegations against Pakistan, as it reaffirmed support for continued dialogue between Islamabad and New Delhi.
“Well, we’ve seen the comments; as we have in the past, continue to encourage dialogue between India and Pakistan,” State Department spokesperson Marie Harf said at the daily press briefing on Wednesday.
Washington, the spokesperson added, would “welcome any and all positive steps the two sides can take to strengthen and deepen their dialogue and cooperation.”
In Islamabad, the Foreign Ministry rejected as “baseless rhetoric” Narendra Modi’s allegations that Pakistan was waging a proxy war in India.
