LAHORE - Leaders of religio-political parties along with the Opposition parties have called for unity and fully implementation of National Action Plan in their Independence Day messages.

PTI, PPP, JI, PAT, PML-Q, Jud, MWM, Shia Ulema Council, Sunni Ittehad Council, JUI and other groups held separate ceremonies to celebrate the day.

Addressing Azadi Convention in Model Town, Dr Tahirul Qadri warned the “corrupt rulers” to leave the country till the arrival of time when people threw them out of their palaces. He reiterated his resolve to continue fight for Qisas for Model Town victims.

Hoisting the national flag atop JI HQ ,  Sirajul Haq urged the nation to support his party in its efforts to build Pakistan as a truly Islamic welfare state. Hundreds of people attended the ceremony.

“We would defend this homeland at the cost of our lives,” the JI chief declared while terming Pakistan as a part of paradise and the mother’s lap.

PAT organised different ceremonies at its Chairman secretariat, where Chaudhary Sarwar, Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed, and Ijaz Chaudhary with other leaders were present.

Also, the PPP organised a ceremony at its Punjab head office in Faisal Chowk. Mian Manzor Watoo, Chaudhary Manzoor Hussain, Naveed Chaudhary and other attended the event.

PML-Q held a flag hoisting ceremony at Muslim League House followed by speeches of party leaders Chaudhary Zaheeruddin, Kamil Ali Agha and Raja Basharat.

JuD arranged countrywide Yakjahti Kashmir March, meetings, conference and rallies. Students, lawyers, traders, civil society among people from all walks of life participated. JuD and Tehreek e Azadi Jammu Kashmir held camps at different places in cities where multimedia briefing was given about atrocities on unarmed Kashmiris.

Takmeel e Pakistan Conference was staged at The Mall where hundreds of people participated.  Jamiat Ahlehadith leader Allama Ibtisam Elahi Zaheer said that Pakistan was achieved after offering millions of lives. MWM arranged Azadi March from Shadman to DHA.
