POF chief vows to make Pakistan peaceful, prosperous

wah cantt - Independence Day was celebrated in Wah Cantt with great enthusiasm and national spirit yesterday and a large number of people from all walks of life participated in different events.

The day commenced with special prayers in the mosques for solidarity, prosperity and strengthening of the motherland.

A flag hoisting ceremony was arranged at POF Headquarter. Chairman POF Board, Lt Gen Omar Mahmood Hayat HI(M) hoisted the flag.

A large number of POF officers, officers and Jawans of Armed Forces, DSG Battalion, FIU, PSU posted in POF and POF employees participated in the ceremony.

Addressing on this occasion Lt Gen Omar congratulated the participants on Independence Day and remarked, “Freedom is a great blessing which was achieved with numerous sacrifices rendered by our forefathers and now it is the prime responsibility of all of us to protect it.”

He further mentioned, “We all have to reaffirm our pledge to make untiring efforts for the progress and prosperity of the motherland.”

He paid rich tributes to the martyrs of security forces and civilians who laid down their lives in recent wave of terrorism.

He further added that these coward acts of the enemy could not lessen Pakistanis’ courage and the whole Pakistani nation is fighting against these terrorists side by side the Armed Forces of Pakistan.

“By grace of God we would eliminate these terrorists from our country and make it a peaceful place,” he vowed.

Separately, government buildings and Central Jamia Mosque were beautifully decorated with lights. People from all walks of life thronged the mosque to witness lightings.
