islamabad - To mark the country’s Independence Day, a flag hoisting ceremony was held at the premises of Islamabad High Court (IHC) building yesterday.

Senior judge of IHC Justice Noor-ul-Haq N Qureshi and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb hoisted the national flag while a contingent of Pakistan Navy presented a guard of honour.

Addressing the ceremony, Justice Qureshi condemned terrorism and particularly bomb blast in Quetta Civil Hospital and expressed the resolve not to bow before the terrorists.

He said that the terrorists could not shake Pakistanis’ morale through their nefarious designs.

Justice Qureshi congratulated the nation on the Independence Day saying, “God gifted this country to us 70 years ago. And we have seen a lot of ups and downs during this period.”

Later, Justice Noor-ul-Haq inaugurated two new state-of-the-art halls including Quaid-e-Azam Hall for lawyers and Iqbal Hall for litigants.

The ceremony was attended by IHC judges including Justice Noor-ul-Haq N Qureshi, Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and judges of Islamabad district courts judges. Besides the judges, other IHC staffers were also present at the ceremony. On this occasion, member Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) Shoaib Shahin Advocate, Wajid Gillani Advocate and Javed Saleem Shorash from Islamabad Bar Council (IBC), president Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA) Tariq Jehangiri, Secretary General IHCBA Waqas Malik, media coordinator Khalid Chaudhary Advocate and other lawyers were also present.
