PTI's Asad Qaiser elected as Speaker NA

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's Asad Qaiser has been elected as speaker of the National Assembly.  

He secured 176 votes out of Total 330 votes. Whereas, opposition's Syed Khursheed Shah secured 146 votes.  

Asad Qaiser has won general elections of July 25, 2018 and elected as the member of the National Assembly from NA-18, Swabi-I. 

Previously, he remained the member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly from 2013 to 2018 and also served as the 14th Speaker of the KP Assembly.

Qaiser hails from Swabi district, KP and a graduate of the University of Peshawar.

In his early political career he supported Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan. Later on, he joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) after its formation in 1996. 

Then he became the president of PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2008 where he served until 2013.

Moreover, in 2013, he was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan as a candidate of PTI from Constituency NA-13 (Swabi-II) and was also elected to the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) from Constituency PK-35 (Swabi-V).

However, he decided to retain his provincial assembly seat and had vacated the National Assembly’s seat.

Furthermore, in the general elections of July 25, he secured both his provincial and National Assembly’s seats from Constituencies PK-44 (Swabi-II) and NA-18 (Swabi-I). He received 78,970 votes and defeated Maulana Fazal Ali Haqqani.

Following his successful election, he was nominated by PTI for the office of the Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan.
