LAHORE - Different competitions were held among the college and school students of Queen Mary College on Sports Day here at Queen Mary College Lahore on Sunday. Dr Nasreen Akhtar Raza, principal of the college, was the chief guest on the occasion while Vice Principal Mrs Tayyaba Azhar, heads and coordinators of all the sections including Mrs Nasira Iftikhar, Mrs Irfana, Bushra Ramzan, Sajida Bukhari, Amina Farooq, Tasavar Haq, Memoona Sajid, Ms Nelofer and other staff members comprising college council and teachers were also present on the occasion. The students presented different items like gymnastic, judo karate and others, besides a hockey match that was also played between school and college team which was won by the college team. Addressing on the occasion, the chief guest said that sports should be compulsory in every educational institution . She said Queen Mary College had good traditions for preparing the students for local, national and international competitions. She appreciated the coaches who had trained the students very well and asked the losers not to lose heart because failure was also a step of success. Doing your best is more important than being the best, she asked the runners up. Sports knows no sex, age, race or religion and it gives us ability to test ourselves mentally, physically and emotionally. It builds our first phase of confidence that provides us with basis for gaining other great things and goals. Dr Nasreen advised the students to pay attention not only to sports but also to their studies and play their vital role in the prosperity of the country. At the end, she thanked the college administration and programme organisers for inviting her as a chief guest. Later, the vice principal presented shield to the chief guest and also distributed prizes among the students.
