LAHORE - The Director General Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Dr Rizwan Naseer reviewed the arrangements for providing emergency cover to the mourning processions during Muharram. In this regard rescuers have been assigned special emergency duties for all districts of Punjab. In Lahore rescuers will remain on emergency alert with 24 fully equipped Emergency Ambulances, 16 Fire Vehicles, 2 Rescue Vehicles and 46 Mobile posts will move along with the processions. Rescue posts will be established at Imam Bargah Bhakewal More, Bhati Chowk, Niaz Baig Village, Ali Raza Abad, H-Block Model Town, Islampura Procession, Rang Mahal Chowk, Jafria Colony, Ada Shabil Hando Village, Samanabad, Chungi Amar Sadhu, Kotha Pind, Nishat Colony/ RA Bazar, Cavalry Ground, A-Block Model Town, Nishtar Town, Batapur Attokey Awan, Aziz Pully, Lal Pul Mughalpura and Imamia Colony Shahdara. All mobile posts and ambulances with medical kits shall be moving along with the processions to provide mourners with emergency medical care if needed. Emergency officers including doctors shall supervise the arrangements on both days. Dr Rizwan Naseer said such arrangements were essential for mass gatherings so that any emergency could be responded in an efficient manner and it was the moral responsibility of citizens to give way to the Rescue Emergency Ambulances and Fire Vehicles. Strict security during Muharram directed Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Aslam Tareen has ordered strict implementation of three layered comprehensive checking, in order to ensure foolproof security to Muharram processions, while traffic and Thana police have been directed to jointly ensure comprehensive checking and screening of all vehicles, motorcycles and rickshaws. The CCPO said Muharram processions ought to be provided security from each side including rooftops, besides blocking all routes, side lanes and roads with barbed wire. He directed presence of bomb disposal squads, along with members of Mohalla and peace committee, ought to be ensured. Meanwhile CCPO also took part in Police Flag March conducted in the city on Tuesday.
