Folk singer arrested from courtroom

LAHORE Punjabi Folk Singer, Akram Rahi, was taken into police custody on Lahore High Court premises Tuesday after cancellation of his pre-arrest bail earlier awarded in a fraud case. Justice Tariq Javed of the LHC dismissed Rahis bail application which he had earlier filed after the court of District and Sessions Judge Lahore refused to grant him the same relief. Mozang Police arrested Rahi as he came out of the courtroom and took him to the police station. Rahi was arrested following an FIR lodged against him under sections 420/468 of PPC on the complaint of Akram Bodla, who accused Rahi and three others - Akram Sabir, Ramzan Qadri etc - of fraudulently trying to transfer to their name his three kanal house, 65-H Model Town on the basis of fake documents. He alleged Rahi also tried to get a court decree against him by keeping the suit completely a secret. Counsel for Bodla said the documents prepared by the accused proved fake, and the court ordered registration of FIR against the accused. He said except Rahi, all other three accused were still at large.
