QUETTA The Balochistan government has decided to form Highway Protection Plan (HPP) to ensure the safe journey on highways of the province. The formation of HPP came in the wake of growing incidents of dacoities, highway robberies, attacks on Nato supplies and lawlessness on highways. The National Crises Management Cell had expressed its serious concern over the attacks on personnel of law enforcement agencies, particularly belonging to Punjab on Sibi highway by armed groups. The Cell had directed Balochistan Government to take strict and effective security arrangements for safe journey on highways. Talking to the media, Provincial Interior Secretary Captain (r) Akbar Hussain Durrani said that in order to ensure the safety of people and their property, the Balochistan government was taking every possible step. He said that National Crises Management Cell had nothing to do with safety of highways. A comprehensive plan has been made to ensure the journey on national highways and in this regard the police, Levies Force and Balochistan Constabulary will be deployed to ensure safety of highways, he said, adding services of Frontier Corps Balochistan would also be hired for this purpose. He said that this plan would secure the journey on highways and would also ensure the security of Nato supplies.
