LAHORE The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) on Tuesday claimed that gas supply to the industry units of Punjab has been restored. The Company has restored the gas supply in view of slight improvement in SNGPLs System pack, a statement said. Gas supply to industries in Faisalabad region and Ferozewattwan, Bhikki, Manga/Raiwind and Kotlakhpat clusters in Lahore and Sheikhupura regions has been restored, it added. Talking to The Nation, SNGPL General Manager Rehan Nawaz said that gas curtailment in these regions would now be observed on December 18. He also said that due to weekly gas curtailment of CNG sector, there was less pressure on the system and they pass on the relief to the industry. He added that the company would observe gas curtailment on rotational basis. The SNGPL is getting 1925 mmcfd of gas while the demand is 2400 mmcfd and there is a short fall of 400-450 mmcfd, he said. The statement said that current cold wave across the country resulted in a sharp increase in gas consumption by the domestic sector. Gas supply to above industrial zones/clusters is being managed out of the system pack. In case of depletion of system, the Company shall be constrained to make adjustments as per requirement, to save its transmission system and to ensure uninterrupted gas supply to domestic consumers, the statement added.
