I am a resident of DHA Lahore, but I often have to visit my printing press which is located at the beginning of Allama Iqbal Road. For the past five months, the Allama Iqbal Road, from Gharhi Shahu to Mayo Garden, has been dug up without a concrete plan or adequate funds to complete the project. The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) had excavated the road to lay down sewerage pipelines of large diameters but the construction work has been withheld since there was no planning mechanism devised to complete the project. It takes me 20 minutes to reach there from DHA, but then it takes literally 1 hour to reach my destination from there on - as the printing press is hardly 20 mins away from the railway bridge. Now I have to park my car at the birds market and walk my way to the printing press which is right behind Asif Marriage Center. As most of the readers already know about the mess that road is in and a lot of articles have already been written on it but all in vain. I strictly request the concerned higher authorities to take firm action in resolving this matter which should not even take more than seven days. FAROOQ AZHAR KHWAJA, Lahore, December 14.
