MAILSI - Former prime minister Gilani, during a workers' meeting held here on Friday, urged the people to vote for the PPP if they wanted continuation of the Benazir Income Support Programme, and added that failed politicians were criticising the PPP. Addressing the meeting at MNA Mehmood Hayyat Khan's residence, Yousuf Raza Gilani said that the creation of South Punjab province was a must. The people of the region would face a many problems if it was divided in many provinces. He said that the politicians who were claiming to bring revolution were telling a lie. In fact, he added, a revaluation was brought by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. He mentioned that Benazir Bhutto sacrificed her life but did not compromise on her principles. He said that in the national history, the incumbent democratic government was going to complete the five-year tenure. He claimed that 8 million females in the country have got money under the Benazir Income Support Programme. Gilani also visited Mauza Dhodha and condoled the death of MPA Sardar Muhammad Khan with former Vehari nazim Mumtaz Khan Khitchi and others. Earlier, he was welcomed by MNA Mehmood Hayat alias Touchi Khan and Hayatullah Khan Tareen. On the occasion, Noorul Haq, Allah Ditta Khalid, Taj Borana, Khawaja Rizwan Alam, Zubaida Malik, PYO Mailsi President Azizur Rehman Sona, Malik Imran, Haji Ibad Ahmad Khan and hundreds of workers were also present. PASSES AWAY: Haji Shaikh Bundu, the father of Prof Shaikh M. Yaqub, the former principal of the Government Degree College Mailsi, has passed away after a protracted illness. His funeral prayers was offered in Janazgah Baba Nathey Shah. Hundreds of people attended the funeral.
