AHMEDPUR EAST - Special Assistant to Japanese government on Southwest Asian Issues Takahiro Tamura called on Bahawalpur National Awami Party Chief Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi at his residence Sadiq Garh Palace Dera Nawab Sahib on Friday.The meeting lasted for one and half an hour which was also attended by Bahawalpur National Awami Party (BNAP) President Farooq Azam Malik, Pakistan People's Party South Punjab Vice President Hassan Askari Sheikh and BNAP Central Additional Secretary General Mian Rafatur Rehman Rehmani.Both the visiting Japanese diplomat and Nawab Abbasi discussed prevailing political situation and matters of mutual interest. The visiting diplomat was briefed by BNAP leaders about the historical, legal and constitutional background of former Bahawalpur state.Nawab Abbasi and his aides informed the diplomat of the launching of Bahawalpur National Awami Party (BNAP) on April 14,2011 and its objectives. They informed the distinguished guest that the party would field 48 candidates on all 16 national and 32 Punjab Assembly seats across the Bahawalpur division in the forthcoming general election. On the occasion, the BNAP president stated that the party was ready to negotiate with all political parties the issue of the restoration of former provincial status of Bahawalpur as it was their one point agenda. Later, the Japanese diplomat presented a gift to the BNAP chief. It is to be noted that the Japanese diplomat exchanged views with Nawab Abbasi and aides both in Urdu and English languages.
