HAFIZABAD - Male workers should give due respect and dignity to the working women and desist from creating hurdles in their way so that the latter could play a vital role for the national progress and stability, said a parliamentarian at a seminar held in the Jinnah Hall here on Friday. Addressing the seminar held in connection with the Working Women's Day, MNA Saira Afzal Tarar said that the present government had taken various steps for the protection and empowerment of women in the Punjab province. She said that anti-harassment and day care centres in offices, schools, colleges and hospitals had been set up while recruitment quota for women had also been increased.On the occasion, District Coordination Officer Dr Farah Masood appreciated the role of working women in progress of the country. She urged the females to play a key role for the solidarity, integrity and betterment of the country. They should be encouraged by all sections of the society, she added.The other participants included: Assistant Commissioner Sadia Tehreem; Gender Specialist Muhammad Arshad; Dr Huma Behzad and a large number of representatives of non-governmental organisations.
