SHEIKHUPURA - As many as 2.7 million male and female students of 5th and 8th classes will appear in annual examinations being started from February 1 and 7, 2013 respectively.The Punjab Examination Commission has finalised all the arrangements in this regard, claimed PEC Manager (Operation) Muhammad Iqbal Awan while talking to TheNation on Thursday. Awan claimed that the PEC was playing a key role to provide quality education and building students' character. Because of its performance, he added, the Punjab government had made a separate act for the institution. He said competent and honest teachers had been deputed at examination centres across the Punjab. The PEC pays honoraria of Rs500 to resident inspectors each, Rs400 to superintendent, Rs200 to invigilator while the results are announced within 40 days after commencement of the examinations, he said. Examinations will start with Mathematics paper of class 5th on February 1. On Feb 2, Islamiat paper will be, Feb 4, English and on the same day Social Study paper would be conducted. Cashier robbed of cash: Three armed outlaws deprived a factory cashier of cash here a few yards away from City B-Division Police Station here on Thursday. Cashier Zafar Hayat of Sargodha Jute Mills was on the way to the factory after drawing Rs80,000 from a local bank. When he reached near Company Bagh, few yards away from the B-Division Police Station, three dacoits riding a motorcycle intercepted him. They snatched the cash from him and fled away.
