Robber shot dead in car snatching bid

KARACHI - A suspected robber was shot dead near Banaras flyover within the jurisdiction of North Nazimabad police station.
Police said that unidentified bandits were trying to snatch a car from a citizen at the said place. The owner of the car opened fire on the culprits from his own pistol. Resultantly, one of them sustained bullet injuries and fell down on the road. The companions of the culprits managed to escape from the scene.
After getting information, police rushed to the spot and shifted the deceased to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he succumbed to injuries. Police shifted the body to Edhi morgue for identification, adding that police have also found a TT pistol from deceased’s possession. They said that it had yet to be ascertained either the nature of the incident was really a robbery or target killing.  Meanwhile, a man was wounded near Keamari Gate No 15 within the remits of Jackson police station.
Police said that the victim namely Waseem Akram, 38, was going somewhere when unidentified assailants riding a motorbike came close to him and start indiscriminate firing. Resultantly, he sustained multiple bullet injuries and shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Police said that the motive had yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile, three people were gunned down in separate acts of violence in different parts of the City while two bodies were recovered from ICI Bridge on Friday. A man was shot dead at Mirza Adam Khan Road in Chakiwara police precincts. Police said that the victim namely Abdul Qadir, resident of the same area, was standing near his residence when unidentified assailants started indiscriminate firing on him. Resultantly, he sustained multiple bullets injuries and died on the spot while three more people who were traveling in a bus were also wounded. Police said that deceased used to work as a watchman in education department, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation.
Mufti Abdul Ghaffor, 28, was killed inside his house in Orangi Town within the limits of Mominabad police station. Police said victim’s brother Zafar stabbed him to death over property dispute and managed to escape. The deceased belonged to Swat. His body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Saleemuddin, 52, was shot dead on offering resistance in a motorcycle snatching bid in Chakra Goth in Korangi. Police officials said that the deceased lived in Noorani Basti and was going somewhere when unidentified culprits shot him dead.
The dead bodies of two young friends were found near ICI Bridge within the limits of Docks police station as culprits managed to escape after throwing the dead bodies.  The deceased persons were identified as Feroze, 25, and Zohaib Faisal, 28, said the police. The two victims were the residents of Ramswami area of Old City.
According to police, the victims went to Agra Taj Colony, Lyari to attend wedding ceremony of someone when they abducted as culprits shot the victims and tortured them after kidnapping and later threw their bodies near ICI bridge in Docks police precincts. However, the police said that so far no any political party had claimed the affiliation of victims.
Meanwhile, tension prevailed in Defense area after unidentified culprits attacked the house of a builder on Friday. Police officials said that the grenade was not exploded and apparently the culprits threw a hand grenade at the house of the prominent builder Farooq Hassan in phase 5, Defence within the jurisdiction of Gizri police station. Police officials said that no loss of life or property was reported. The case was registered against unidentified persons.
