LAHORE – Parts of the country including the City received scattered showers on Friday, increasing chill in weather by decreasing the mercury level. Experts have forecast cold and dry weather with mist in the morning for the City during the next couple of days.

Snowfall over the hills, rains, overcast conditions and strong breeze caused considerable decrease in the mercury level across the country including the City during the day and at nighttime.

On Friday, maximum and minimum temperature in the City was recorded 16.5 degree Celsius and 7.2 C respectively. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded 93 per cent which decreased to 79 per cent in the evening.

Scattered rains added to the woes of motorists and pedestrians. Inundated rainwater on roadsides and slippery conditions of roads caused frequent traffic jams on a number of important arteries. Several incidents of skidding of motorcycles were also reported from various parts of the City.

People come out of their houses in the evening to enjoy wet conditions. Major parks and picnic spots attracted a large number of people including women and children in the evening. Huge rush was witnessed at Bagh-e-Jinnah, Gulshan Park, Jillani Park, Jallo Park, Lahore Zoo and other picnic spots in the City. Massive traffic jams were witnessed on roads in the close vicinity of these parks.  According to the experts, a trough of westerly wave lies over Kashmir. Local meteorological department has forecast rain-with snowfall over the hills at isolated places .
