PESHAWAR - Women Business Development Centre (WBDC) Peshawar organised three-day Crafts Bazaar for promotion of the work of under-privileged women entrepreneurs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The exhibition, which started from December 13, will continue till December 15. Women artisans from all over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in general particularly from districts including D I Khan, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swat, Mardan and Charsadda are participating in the exhibition. Their products on display ranged from a variety of handmade household accessories to hand embroidered garments, shawls and bed sets etc.

The event was formally inaugurated by President Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI), Dr Yusuf Sarwar, who visited the stalls and highly appreciated the products prepared by the artisans of the province.

He also lauded the efforts of WBDC for the promotion of the products of women entrepreneurs and its contribution to the development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He called for turning projects like WBDC into a permanent organizations.

Talking on the occasion, Project Manager WBDC, Nabeela Farman said that the Crafts Bazaar was second event of the nature organized during the current calendar year. First such kind of bazaar was successfully arranged in May.

She said that the outcome of that exhibition was a huge success both in terms of sales and promotion of the event as well as the centre.

Due to remarkable impact and response received from the initiative, the event has now been planned to be carried out twice a year.

The event, she said, not only help artisans succeed in acquiring remarkable profits, but also development of numerous links with potential customers for future business transactions.

She said that the feedback coming from the visitors provides constructive and innovative ideas for bringing further improvement of the products displayed by the artisans.

.BDC is a project of the Ministry of Industries and Production, implemented by the Regional Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) in Peshawar. Another such centre will be formally inaugurated in Saidu Sharif Swat very soon.
