Working women paid homage


LAHORE –On the directives of Punjab Chief Minister, Department of Women Development organised a number of seminars to pay homage to working women on Friday.
The seminars were presided over by different parliamentarians, senators and officials and attended by about 12,000 women from different walks of life, commending the efforts of Punjab Government to strengthen the role of working women in the society. Addressing the seminars, the speakers said that if half of population joined men folk shoulder to shoulder to move the wheel of country’s economy then the day was not far away when the country would be among the developed nations of the world. They said that the way the Punjab CM gave concrete concept of Women Development and the announcement of Women Economic Empowerment package for women belonging to all spheres of life on March 08, 2012 (World Women’s day) was commendable. The speakers put forward their suggestions for the anticipated policy being announced by Punjab Chief Minister for working women in near future.
A seminar was held at Town Hall in this regard wherein Advisor to CM Zakia Shahnawaz was the chief guest. She appraised the participants and the steps taken by the Government and Dept of Women Development.  On the occasion, Shaista Pervaiz Malik stressed upon the participants to ensure their participation in the working women day to be held in football stadium in her address where the Punjab CM would make important announcements regarding working women. Mussarat Misbah, Fouzia Waqar and others also expressed their sense of gratitude for the arrangement of working women day seminar and appreciated the efforts of Punjab Women Development Department.
