RAWALPINDI - Punjab Emergency Service (PES) Rescue 1122 has rescued 55 emergency victims in the district while responding to 59 emergency calls in last 24 hours, informed the spokesman here on Saturday.
The emergency calls to which Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi responded included 30 road traffic accidents, 20 medical, 2 fire incidents, 1 crime and 6 miscellaneous emergencies, he added.
He told that total of 553 road traffic accidents were reported in Rescue 1122's Provincial Monitoring Cell in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours; in which 9 lives were Lost and 448 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant district. However, some 213 victims sustaining minor injuries were provided first aid on the spot.
According to him, 256 drivers, 16 underage drivers, 94 pedestrians and 320 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic accidents. The statistics showed 105 RTAs were reported in Lahore Control Room, which affected 117 persons placing the provincial capital at top of the list followed by 67 RTAs in Faisalabad with 80 victims and Gujranwala at third position with 35 RTAs and 40 victims.
He said that the detailed further show that total 670 in victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 557 males and 113 females, while age group of the victims show that 98 were under 18 year of age, 404 were between 18 and 40 year and rest of the 168 victims were reported above 40 years.
According to the data, 433 motorbikes, 70 auto rickshaws, 60 motorcars, 36 vans, 05 passenger buses, 13 trucks and 70 other types of auto vehicles and slow moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
