Easypaisa insures 100,000 subscribers
KARACHI (PR): In less than a year since its launch, Pakistan’s first and fastest growing mass market-health insurance ‘Easypaisa Sehat Sahara’ has gained more than 100,000 subscribers and is opening up new avenues for easy and affordable access to quality healthcare amongst the masses.
Launched in January 2015, in partnership with MicroEnsure, a leading local insurance company, ‘Easypaisa Sehat Sahara’ provides financial assistance for inpatient hospitalization and disability, offering an innovative method of health financing to those in need.
Any Pakistani can subscribe for Easypaisa Health Insurance by paying only PKR 950 per year. In return, they receive inpatient treatment of up to PKR 1,000 per day of hospitalization or PKR 2,000 for each night spent in an intensive care unit. In addition, generous maximum payout limits and a weekly benefit of PKR 5,000 in case of temporary disability due to injuries are also offered.
There is a generous 30-day limit for any single admission and no limit on maximum hospitalizations.
Unlike conventional health insurance, ‘Easypaisa Sehat Sahara’ doesn’t require customer to visit a specified panel hospital and allows them to freely visit the nearest healthcare facility, which may include free government or trust as well as private hospitals. Furthermore, the customer is not required to undergo lengthy documentation; instead all they need is their CNIC, making this insurance accessible to an unparalleled number of people. Till date, thousands of customers who have suffered from unfortunate accidents or illnesses have had their claims honored through the Easypaisa health insurance hospital cash model.

Iqra University

KARACHI (PR): The 14th convocation ceremony of Iqra University was held at Defence View Campus in Karachi on Monday. The successful students were awarded Bachelor, Master, M. Phil and Ph. D. degrees in different fields. Hunaid H. Lakhani, Chancellor of the University, addressed the graduating students and urged them to dedicate their lives to hard work. About 450 students graduated in different programmes. The students who had topped in their respective programmes were given gold medals, which had been sponsored by different multi-national and national organizations.

DIBPL ‘best Islamic retail bank in Asia’
DUBAI (PR): Dubai Islamic Bank Pakistan Limited (DIBPL), one of the fastest growing Islamic banks in Pakistan, has been awarded “Best Islamic Retail Bank in Asia” by the CPI Financialin Dubai, UAE.

PEC launches PETSAC-2014
ISLAMABAD (PR): Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has officially launched the Pakistan Electric and Telecommunication Safety Code (PETSAC-2014) for safeguarding human lives and reducing material loss from electrocution and allied hazards.
Federal Minister for Science & Technology, Rana Tanveer Hussain chaired the launching ceremony held on Monday here. Engr Jawed Qureshi, Chairman PEC, John Groarke, Mission Director US-AID and engineers from power and telecom sector participated in the launching ceremony.
This code will only be effective, when all the relevant regulators may devise effective mechanism within their domains to ensure its implementation in letter and spirit, Rana Tanveer said while addressing the participants of the launching ceremony.
PETSAC will help in brining foreign investment and collaboration by providing internationally recognized safety practices applicable in power and telecommunication sector here in Pakistan, he added. The minister lauded the efforts of PEC in brining improvement in engineering profession as a whole, especially the recent landmark achievement of recognition of engineering qualification and cross border mobility in Asia Pacific Region as declared by Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and Pacific (FEIAP) and endorsed by UNESCO. He expressed that this achievement will certainly pave the way to open international job markets for Pakistani engineers.
In his welcome address Engr. Jawed Qureshi, Chairman PEC said, PETSAC-2014 provides a unified system of safety standards to help reduce fatal and non-fatal occupational accidents among directly exposed workforce, general public as well as to contribute to the safety of valuable assets of the concerned utilities. The Code shall be adopted by all public and private organizations in power and telecom sector while implementation and enforcement of this Code shall vest with regulators such as NEPRA, PEMRA, PTA and PEC within their respective domains, he elaborated.

SBP core banking system upgraded
KARACHI (PR): A signing ceremony was held in Karachi recently to upgrade the core banking system at State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). Deputy Governor SBP – Saeed Ahmed, along with the Managing Director of Temenos, Middle East & Africa - Jean-Paul Mergeai and the Chairman, National Data Consultant (NDC) - Behram Ahmed graced the occasion, along with senior officials of these organizations.

ASDRC holds seminar

KARACHI (PR): A seminar on autism & learning disabilities awareness was organized in Karachi by the Autism Spectrum Disorders Resource Centre (ASDRC) Lahore the other day. It was attended by more than two hundred parents and professionals including teachers, doctors, and therapists. Rukhsana Shah, CEO of Autism Spectrum Disorders Resource Centre (ASDRC) expressed her gratitude to the MJS Foundation for its financial and moral support, which has enabled the Centre to offer the finest trainings to teachers and parents.
She stated that it was the Mission of ASDRC to create a critical mass of trained teachers and care-givers and to create maximum awareness in the country about autism and learning disabilities.
Mahvash Jahangir Siddiqui, Chairperson of MJS Foundation, stated the Foundation was striving to improve health, education and social outcomes in Pakistan through the establishment of additional facilities in existing public and private hospitals, introducing educational and vocational colleges for persons with disabilities, empowering youth through leadership and enterprise support programmes, improving the quality of education and providing relief and rehabilitation services during natural disasters. Autism Resource Centre in Lahore set up by the Foundation is designed to create greater awareness about autism and learning disabilities in the country, and to train parents and teachers of special and mainstream schools in the relevant fields.
