RAWALPINDI - A delegation of Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA), headed by Deputy Commissioner Ikramul Haq, visited Rawalpindi Chamber of commerce and Industry on Monday.
During his meeting with President RCCI Mian Humayun Parvez, he expressed the hope that PRA would collect its 2015-2016 revenue target of Rs2 billion from Rawalpindi division. So far PRA has collected 840 million rupee in tax collection on services and in comparison with last year data we are ahead of targets, he added. During the meeting, an overview of PRA was given to the participants, including its core areas, scope and jurisdiction. IkramUl haq emphasized on broadening the tax base and asked chamber to use its influence on voluntary registration.
President RCCI Mian Humayun Parvez said that there was a need to make things clear after 18th amendment with respect to the devolution of tax collection from federal to provinces. Our traders and business community were very confused when it comes to the tax collection on commodity (goods) and non-commodity (services). On goods business community was required to file taxes to FBR whereas on services they were filing to Punjab Revenue Authority. He hoped that such meetings would be held frequently and this way we could bring awareness among business community.
Senior vice president Saqib Rafiq, Vice president Aqil Obaid, former presidents Aman Ullah Khan, Najam Rehan, and members of the executive committee were also present in the meeting.
