ISLAMABAD - Umama Khalid won the 1st Army Public School Martyrs Women Archery Championship 2015, held here at the Shahbaz Sharif Sports Complex, Rawalpindi.

Aqsa Nawaz secured the second and Rani Begum third position. The event was conducted by Rawalpindi Division Archery Association (RDAA) in collaboration with Sports Department Rawalpindi to pay tribute to the martyrs of APS kids. Sports Officer Amir Hameed inaugurated the event, while District Sports Officer Abdul Waheed Babar was the chief guest on the occasion. RDAA president Zahid Awan, DO Sports Manzar Shah, coach Syed Danish Abbas and others were present on the occasion. Umama secured 77 points to grab top position, while Aqsa Nawaz scored 54 for second and Rani Begum 33 for third slot. Fareeha Abbasi, Nadia Bhatti, Amber Hameed, Zainab Ali and Mehnaz Bibi were awarded certificates for performing well in the event.

Talking to The Nation, RDAA president Zahid Awan said: “Angels of Army Public School set new traditions of bravery and scarified their lives and laid the foundation of peace in Pakistan. We pay glowing tributes to the martyrs and it is our promise we will not spare our lives and will be ready to give our all to protect our beloved country. This championship was just a meager tribute to the martyrs and their families.”
