KARACHI : Commissioner Karachi Ijaz Ahmed Sheikh said on Wednesday that the target of immunizing 1.5 million children was accomplished during the recently concluded anti-polio drive in 99 union councils of the city.
This he stated during a meeting held to review the recently concluded anti-polio drive.
The Karachi commissioner appreciated the performance of polio teams, who participated in the campaign, and said that it was a big success for the administration that the target of immunizing 1.5 million children had been met.
He said that administration had focused on sensitive union councils of the city.
where positive results were achieved while it was successfully done because of coordination and team work.
Ijaz Ahmed Khan vowed that the efforts against polio would continue till its eradication from the city.
Coordinator of Emergency Operation Center informed the meeting that as per report issued by International Health Organization of Lot Quality Assurance sampling (LQAS), declared current year performance 96 percent.
The meeting decided that next anti- polio drive would be initiated from December 19, along with the drive scheduled in other parts of the country.
It was informed that the drive will continue for six days with the aim to vaccinate around 2.2 million children in.
The meeting was further informed that almost 12 thousand teams will participate in the upcoming drive.
