LAHORE - Minhajul Quran International yesterday organised a mass marriage ceremony of 25 Muslim and non-Muslim couples at its head office in Model Town.

Pakistan Awami Tehreek and Minhaj Foundation head Dr Tahirul Qadri was the chief guest while former president of AJK Sardar Attique Khan, senior politician Begum Abida Hussain, head of the Higher Education of Jamia Al-Azhar Cairo Mohammed Nasr Al-Swoti, pro vice-chancellor Dr Mohammed Ahmed Hashim, Ameer Tehreek Faizur Rehman Durrani, PAT sec general Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, PTI leader Ibrarul Haq, Father James Channen, Ghulam Mohiyuddin Diwan, Fayyaz Warraich and other attended the ceremony.

Dr Hassam Mohiyuddin Qadri, MPA Sadia Sohail Rana and Amina Bokhari, poet Syed Farhat Hussain Shah, Allama Usman Sialvi and Allama Mohammed Hussain Azad were also among guests.

Speaking on occasion, Dr. Qadri highlighted the need for arranging such ceremonies for the families who were unable to arrange marriage of their children due to poverty . He said Minhaj organised mass marriage ceremony every year.

Qadri criticised political elite and Sharifs for “looting billions of public money.” He said rulers failed to provide any relief to common people rather they were busy in looting country’s resources and accumulating wealth in offshore companies. He said PAT would continue its efforts to bring change in the society and expose those corrupt elements.
