YDA on roads

LAHORE - The Young Doctors Association continued strike at OPDs of teaching hospitals across the province including Lahore yesterday to press for the demand of withdrawal of central induction policy for PG trainees.

The government stuck with the plan of keeping OPDs functional with the help of seniors and deploying Police to stop YDA men from forcibly taking doctors for strike. Absence of young doctors, however, hampered service delivery at OPDs.

The YDA has announced continuing strike at OPDs till withdrawal of central induction policy for PG trainees. The association has warned extending strike to indoors if the old mechanism for induction of PG trainees was not restored.

Health Department officials have termed the strike a failure, saying the majority of young doctors have rejected the call of a group and provided treatment to thousands of patients at OPDs along with seniors. They said that the demands were uncalled for as proper forum was available for redressing complaints if any. They said the government would not tolerate any hindrance in provision of healthcare facilities to the ailing humanity.
