Over 10,000 MW added to national grid: Abbasi

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that government has added ten thousand and five hundred megawatt electricity to the national grid in the last four and a half year.

He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of one hundred and forty seven megawatt Patrind Hydropower Project in Muzaffarabad Friday.

The prime minister said the first phase of the Neelum Jhelum Power Project will start working by February next year. He said work on a number of hydropower projects including Kairot and Kohalla is in progress. He announced that the country will generate surplus power by 2030.

Abbasi said PML-N government believes in practical work and not hallow slogans. He said Gawadar is a forty-year old project but the present government operationalised it for boosting trade activities.

The premier elaborated that Motorways and Express Ways from Khunjrab to Karachi are either in progress or near completion.
