The black coats would also gather at Katcheri Chowk and march towards Islamabad where a protest demonstration on the Constitution Avenue would be staged in front of Supreme Court on Thursday (February 18) the day when the SC bench would be hearing the matter. Qazi Anwar made these announcements while addressing a press conference at Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench on Sunday. Prominent lawyers Hamid Ali Khan, Rashid A Rizvi, LHCBA President Malik Shehbaz Gheba, Secretary General Malik Muhammad Siddique Awan, prominent figure of the lawyers movement Sardar Asmat Ullah, District Bar Association (DBA) President Waheed Awan and many other lawyers were also present on the occasion. Qazi Anwar said that Government acted contrary to the summary forwarded by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry regarding elevation of Jutice Saqib Nisar as the Supreme Court judge and Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif as the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court. He said if the Government did not comply with the summary sent by CJP regarding judges elevation, the lawyers throughout the country would gather in Islamabad on March 9 and hold protest demonstration. To a query, Qazi Anwar said there was no misconception in the lawyers minds about the former presidents of SCBA Aitzaz Ahsan and Ali Ahmed Kurd. However, if they both (Aitzaz and Kurd) had any confusion, they should come to the table for talk. A committee, Qazi Anwar informed, under the chair of well-known lawyers leader Latif Afridi has also been constituted which would hold talks with both the key players of lawyers movement and try to convince them to rejoin the legal fraternity in their struggle for supremacy of law. The corrupt elements among the legal fraternity should also be made accountable, Qazi Anwar said while responding to a question. Meanwhile, Supreme Court Bar Association President Qazi Anwar told TheNation that the lawyers would hold a protest march from Rawalpindi Bar to the Parliament House. To another query, he said the Federation did contrary to the summary forwarded by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and this act by the Government irked the lawyers. SSP Islamabad told TheNation that no arrest would be made and hoped that the lawyers would not violate the law of the country. However, the reasons for arrest should be mentioned clearly by police officer if some one violates the rules and laws, he added. Our staff reporter from Quetta adds: President Balochistan High Court Bar Association Hadi Shakeel Advocate and President Balochistan Bar Association Baz Muhammad Kakar while rejecting presidential order regarding appointment of judges have announced boycott of all courts for Monday in Balochistan. Addressing a joint press conference here on Sunday, they said they had held a joint meeting of Balochistan High Court Bar Association and Balochistan Bar Association that fully condemned the presidential decision. We accept president as the constitutional president because he is an elected president but those who are advising him are not elected people and they want to derail the system, they added. They said that in the current situation it was the responsibility of president, parliament and politicians to frustrate the designs of unconstitutional forces. They said that lawyers had always supported right decisions and they would never support any wrong decision. The Supreme Court has taken a right decision and proved that it is independent, they added. They said that country was passing through a difficult phase and it could not afford any confrontation.
