LAHORE – PML-N President Mian Nawaz Sharif has said that government has given nothing to the masses except miseries and disappointment as corruption is eroding Pakistan like a cancer while development and prosperity of the country is not possible unless this menace is completely rooted out. While talking to the members of the Unification Bloc in the Punjab Assembly who called on him at Raiwind on Tuesday, he criticised the PPP government and said, it has failed to deliver.

He said for the sake of a sustained democracy and wellbeing of the country judicial decisions must be given due respect. Unless implementation of the court orders in letter and spirit is ensured a stable democracy cannot be expected, he added.

Nawaz Sharif said, the PPP-led government over the four years rule, gave nothing but problems of price hike, loadshedding and unemployment to the masses.

He appreciated the MPAs of the Unification Block and said that PML-N had great respect for them as they remained steadfast during the Governor’s Rule in Punjab in 2009. He said that PML-N has always done politics of principles and will adhere to this stand in future.

During the meeting, the members of the unification bloc exchanged views on the current political situation, election matters and performance of the Federal government.

Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Senior Adviser Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa, and Provincial Law minister, Rana Sanaullah Khan were also present in the meeting. Sources privy to the meeting confide that Unification members during the meeting expressed serious reservations on the Senate candidature of Kamil Ali Agha of PML-Q in Punjab on plea that their bloc, which originally was a part of the PML-Q, outnumbered the PML-Q members present in the Punjab Assembly, hence it deserved representation in the Senate.

The members expressed full support to the PML-N and received a positive note from the PML-N leadership of their merger, however, both sides decided to further discuss the same.

They stated that  Nawaz Sharif said that he regards the unification members equal to the members of his own party, and sounded positive on accommodating the unification members in the party in the next elections.
