Strategy evolved to combat dengue


LAHORE – District Coordination Officer Ahad Cheema has said that comprehensive strategy at union council level has been evolved to control the possible attack of dengue virus in the City and instructions have been issued to town officers to make ensure complete implementation on dengue regulations.
“The process of recruitment of the spray men at town level has been started and 261 new spray men and 155 baildars have been recruited so far,” he added.
The DCO expressed these views while presiding over a meeting regarding dengue at Town Hall on Tuesday. He said surveillance teams had been constituted at town level which would check tyre shops, graveyards, parks, factories and other sensitive areas and campaign to be expedited from tomorrow. He said teams had been constituted for indoor and outdoor checking and if open tyre was found in any town then concerned Town Officer Regulation will be suspended immediately. He directed to reconcile the list of newly recruited staff and to take strict action against absent staff.
He also expressed his displeasure on presenting wrong facts and figures and directed the concerned officers to verify the data and complete it within 2 days. He also directed the town administrations for effective campaign to be launched at union council level and zero period would be started at all public schools from February 15 in which students to be given lectures about anti-dengue steps.
The meeting was told awareness books of anti-dengue steps had been distributed in schools. He also directed that private schools should also be included in this campaign.
DCO condoles Najmi’s death: District Coordination Officer Ahad Khan Cheema has expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the sad demise of renowned scholar and TV host Abbas Najmi.
In a condolence message, the DCO prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the members of the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.
