As part of study tour M.Sc students from the Armed Forces Post Graduate Medical Institute (AFPGMI) Rawalpindi visit Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital (SKMCH) on yearly basis. These students feel highly impressed by the service it is rendering to cancer patients and rightly regard SKMCH as an icon in the medical world. It is being run as a corporate entity but with a caring heart and spreading hope. Students from AFPGMI visit this place to observe and learn its good practices. The SKMCH has an indigenously developed efficient MIS, a good infection control programme, a sustainable financial management system, state-of-the-art diagnostic facilities, a well stocked pharmacy and walk-in clinic. And the best part of the story is that the people are served with great zeal and dedication by an enthusiastic professional team. The students have a lot to learn.
