Dakota Johnson finds it hard to be objective when watching back her films. The actress is the female lead in the raunchy film, which co-stars Jamie Dornan as kinky businessman Christian.
While scoring such a high-profile part will do wonders for her career, watching the finished feature for the first time was strange for the star. ‘It was an eerie experience,’ she admitted to the British edition of OK! magazine.
‘I’ve never seen anything like it - but I’m really not that objective! It wasn’t long after we finished shooting so I remember every scene and all the difficulties. Seeing it again was sometimes painful. I don’t know how to describe it, but it looks very beautiful.’
It’s the 25-year-old’s first major role and she admits the lack of anonymity will be hard to deal with now the film is in cinemas. She currently lives in Los Angeles, but might move away from the City of Angels in the future.
‘I grew up in LA and it has been home for me, but I’m in transition,’ she admitted. ‘I don’t know where I’m going to live, but I like Nashville and New York, or I might go and live in Colorado on a ranch, have lots of kids and animals. That might be a great life!’ The novel Fifty Shades of Grey is based on included plenty scenes penned by author E.L. James. Luckily, Dakota wasn’t afraid of getting down and dirty on screen. ‘I didn’t have any problem doing anything,’ she revealed. ‘The secret is, I have no shame. Reading the book, I found myself more interested in the ways they were breaking each other down emotionally than the scenes.’
