Islamabad-67 officials of Islamabad police have been promoted to next ranks of Inspector, Sub-Inspector and Assistant Sub-Inspector, following recommendations of Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC), a police spokesman said on Wednesday.

Inspector General of police Islamabad (IGP) Dr. Sultan Azam Temuri along with other officers pinned the badges to the promoted officers in a ceremony held at police Line Headquarters, Islamabad. Those who have been elevated to the rank of Inspector include Muhammad Azam, Inayat-ur-Rehman, Sanab Gul, Laiq Wali Shah, Muhammad Akram Zahid, Sajjad Hussain Shah, Kazim Hussain, Ameer Ahmed Khan, Walayat Khan, Shahid Mehmood, Said Muhammad and Noor Jamal.

officials promoted from Assistant Sub- Inspector to Sub-Inspector include Muhammad Nawaz, Ali Asghar, Ajmal Nawaz, Faiz Jillani, Muhammad Banaras, Ghulam Mustafa, Abdul Aziz, Muhammad Wazir, Ghulam Raza, Fida Hussain, Tasneem Iqbal, Qamar Abbas, Khalid Javed, Aqal Badshah, Muhammad Arshad, Nawaz Ahmed, Riaz Ahmed, Fida Muhammad while those from promoted from the rank of Head Constable to ASI include Ghulam Abbas, Zubair Ahmed, Ijaz-Ur-Rehman, Muhammad Arshad, Abdul Qayyam, Momin Khan, Muhammad Zulfiqar, Ahsan Ullah, Muhammad Ijaz, Ishfaq Ahmed, Sultan Mehmood, Ameer Mukhtar, Shahid Hussain, Mazhar Hussain, Muhammad Razzaq, Zaheer Ahmed, Haq Nawaz, Naseer Ahmed, Muhammad Arif, Azhar Mehmood, Amir Abbas, Sabir Khan and others.

 Muhammad Akram, Muhammad Qaisar, Ali Akbar, Abid Mehmood, Akbar Ali, Tauqeer Ahmed, Muhammad Anwar, Mushtaq Ahmed, Safdar Ali, Saeed Akhtar, Abdul Sattar, Riasat Ali, Zafar Ullah, Muhammad Ishtiaq and Afzal Mehmood. IGP Islamabad said that responsibilities of the promoted officers have increased and they have to work with more dedication to accomplish their task. He hoped for a better output in future and urged them to work hard for protection of the lives and property of citizens.

Meanwhile, Sabzi Mandi and Tarnol police on Wednesday arrested three dacoits and street criminals besides recovering mobile phones and weapons from their possession. According to the details, SSP Islamabad Najeeb ur Rehman Bugvi assigned the task to SP Industrial-Area Liaqat Hayat Niazi to accelerate efforts to arrest criminal elements. A police team headed by an ASP succeeded in arresting the three street criminals identified as Mujeeb Ullah, Hikmat Ullah and Buland Iqbal. According to initial investigation, the accused confessed that they along with other accomplices committed various crimes in Sabzi Mandi area. Further investigation is underway.
