Accountability court indicts Sharjeel Memon, 11 others in corruption case

An Accountability court in Karachi indicted Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader Sharjeek Memon and 11 other suspects in corruption case of awarding advertisements at unfair rates while abusing the power.

The hearing was conducted in a closed room where no media or non-related persons were allowed.

Former Sindh information minister and all other suspects pleaded not guilty. Furthermore, four of the indicted have raised question about court's verdict stating that they did not receive required documents.

Memon was arrested by NAB on October 27, 2017 when court rejected his bail. The watchdog arrested him after hours long stand off as he refused to come out of court's premises.

NAB filed the corruption references against Memon and other suspects for awarding advertisements regarding awareness campaign on exorbitant rates and against the law during July 2013 and June 2015.
