Citizens robbed of cash

OKARA - Citizens had been robbed of millions of rupees in different incidents here on Wednesday.

According to police sources, Mirza Mujeebur Rahman, owner of Mirza Carriage Oil Company at Sher Rabbani Town gave Rs1400,000 to his two servants - Haji Zahid Hussain and Muhammad Rafiq and sent them to deposit the money in a bank at Dipalpur Chowk. They were on the way to the bank on a motorcycle when they were intercepted by four dacoits near Mohallah Ghaziabad. The dacoits snatched the money from them and fled firing shots into the air. A wrist watch and a magazine were left behind by dacoits. B-Division police registered a case and started investigation.

In another incident, a man was deprived of Rs5.5 million by two dacoits. Ch Anwar, son of Siddiq, resident of village 18/1L was on the way back from Abdullah Sugar Mills. As he reached Hujra-Shergarh Road, two armed bike riders intercepted him, robbed him of the cash and fled. Police were investigating.

HOUSE GUTTED

A house was gutted after a fire broke out due to short circuit here on Wednesday.

The fire erupted in the house of Rana Siddiq at Darul Ihsan Town and engulfed the house in no time. It reduced the household goods to ashes in no time. Rescue 1122 fire brigade extinguished the fire with hectic efforts of one hour. No loss of life was reported.
