Islamabad-The week-long activities of intercollegiate competitions concluded at Islamabad Model College for Girls (Post Graduate), F-7/4 on Wednesday.

Addressing the concluding ceremony as the chief guest, Director General Federal Directorate of Education Hasnat Ahmed Qureshi asked the students to set aims for their lives and follow the same with dedication.

“You must dream high and set goals for your future after which you would be able to achieve success in life”, he advised the students.

Nothing is impossible in this world if you follow the right path with honesty and hard work under the guidance of capable mentors, he added.

The director general also threw light on inspiring history of some of the globally-known personalities and the struggle to become such icons. He appreciated participants of the competitions and stressed them that they should not only focus on their studies but also keep themselves well informed about political and social issues of the country.

Principal of the college, Saleha Jabeen, during her address said that the role model that the students select must be a person who supports their ideology, encourage their struggles and has achieved success in life through clear and genuine path rather than relying on shortcuts. A role model may not be a famous person, but must be a good human being, morally and spiritually strong and knowing importance of hard work in life, she said.

On the concluding day, English debate competition was held among teams of different colleges.              The topic of the debate was “Celebrities should not be the Role Model”, of which the participants spoke in favour and against. The judges of the competition were Dr Ayaz Qadeer, Huma Batool and Zafar Ullaha Shaheen.

According to the results, Rabia Jameel from Government Post Graduate College, Kashmir Road, Rawalpindi clinched the first position, while Shazeen Sadiq of the same college and Humaira Kiran of IMCG, F-7/2 secured 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively, while the consolidation prize was awarded to Jannat Mubbashir of IMCG, F-7/2.
