ISLAMABAD - Secretary Establishment Division on Wednesday informed the Supreme Court that out of 43 ministries/division reply has come from 20, while report from 23 is awaited regarding dual nationality of civil servants.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, was hearing suo motu case regarding dual nationality of government servants.
The secretary also told that the Punjab had sent report about their officers.
The chief justice on January 15, during hearing of service matter, directed the registrar of the Supreme Court and all the high courts, to submit list of dual-national judges of the superior court and the district judiciary.
He directed the secretary Establishment Division to submit list of dual national civil servants from BPS 17-22 within 15 days.
The chief justice said that those who had not provided information about dual nationality then it would be considered that they had disregarded the court order so action would be taken against them.
The chief justice said if any officer would conceal information about his dual nationality and after that if it came to the notice of the court that so and so officer has dual nationality then action would be taken against him.
He said mechanism would be developed to find out the dual nationality of the government servants.
The secretary Establishment Division filed the interim report.
He told that there were 13 groups in the establishment including Pakistan Administrative Services, Police Services of Pakistan, Secretariat Group, Office Management Group, Foreign Services, Inland Services, Pakistan Customs, Pakistan Audit and Account, Information Group, Railways Group, Commerce and Trade, Postal Services, Military Land and Cantonment Group, Economic and Planners.
The court issued notices to the secretaries/service administrator of the divisions to provide the list of Grade-17 and above officers within two weeks.
The chief secretaries of all the provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and the Azad Jammu and Kashmir have also been ordered to supply the list of Grade-17 and above officers.
The autonomous bodies of the ministries/divisions were ordered to provide the list of ex-cadre officers list.
The court said that the secretary Establishment Division would act as the coordinator of the court in this case.
The secretary sought three weeks to scrutinise the report.
The case was adjourned till March 1st.
