RAWALPINDI - Accountability Court (AC) Rawalpindi Saturday released former secretary establishment Ismail Qureshi arrested by National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The AC judge Tariq Abbasi issued these directions to release the former secretary on the condition that he would cooperate with the NAB in its investigations. NAB officials presented Ismail Qureshi before the judge who asked that why he was arrested when he was cooperating with the NAB. The officials told the court that they needed to obtain the record including documents related to the appointments from him.

The judge remarked that there was a difference between enquiry and investigations while the accused also ensured the court that he was ready to fully cooperate with the court and would appear before the IO whenever he was asked to do so.

Therefore, the court released him and remarked that he must cooperate in NAB investigation fully.  The court added that if any proof against Qureshi was found and he proved guilty, he would surely be arrested. Earlier, National Accountability Bureau had arrested the former establishment secretary Ismail Qureshi on Friday night for his alleged involvement in illegal appointment of Adnan Khawaja as managing director Oil and Gas Development Corporation Limited (OGDCL.
