LAHORE – Dacoits gunned down a father of five on offering resistance in Kahna area late of Friday night, police sources said on Saturday.

Muhammad Riaz, 40, riding on a motorcycle was on his way home when gunmen intercepted him at Laliyani Road late on Friday night. The dacoits held him up at gunpoint and demanded cash and mobile phone. As they man offered resistance, they opened fire at him and fled away after snatching Rs 25,000 from him. The man sustained serious bullet injuries and died on the spot. The police reached the crime scene when the robbers had fled away. The police removed the dead body to the morgue for an autopsy.

The police on Saturday afternoon handed over the body to the deceased family. The police have registered the case and are investigating.

Meanwhile, a 25-year-old resident of Bajur Agency was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in here Kot Lakhpat area, police said on Saturday.  Siraj Khan was on a stroll near his residential apartment in Munir Chowk in the limits of Kot Lakhpat police when unidentified motorcyclists opened fire at him.
