MANDI BAHAUDDIN - The district administration held a monthly meeting of various departments’ heads to review progress.

The meeting chaired by DCO Amin Chaudhry was informed by the EDO (agriculture) that this year wheat was cultivated over a land of 343,000 acres. He said the rains would increase wheat produce to about 33 maunds per acre. The EDO (works) briefed the meeting about ongoing development projects, saying that construction work of the Children Hospital was underway on priority basis and 28 roads would complete soon.

Later, EDO (Health) Dr Jafar said that micro plan to end dengue virus had been made and teams were carrying out across the district. DO (Enterprises) Kashif said that price control magistrates conducted 820 raids and imposed Rs72,000 while 87 shopkeepers were booked for overcharging.

The DOC said that during his checking, majority of students including headmaster of Government School Malikwal were found absent. DCO taking notice of the irregularity ordered the DO Education to hold inquiry into the matter. The DCO emphasised the need to work with dedication. He said that every month Rs2.5 million was being released for purchase of furniture for schools.
